THE FUTURE CAN BE OURS: Trump’s Misogynistic Style Not the Way

Dear Friend,

Donald Trump appears to live by the personal philosophy of the upside down
version of the Golden Rule. Not that we should treat others the way we’d
like to be treated, but the one that states: He that has the gold rules.

In addition, he would appear to advocate a philosophy of contempt towards
anyone who may have talent that makes them competitive with him.

Nevertheless, Steve Schmidt, “a senior adviser to Senator John McCain when
he ran for president in 2008,” says: “‘There is a bubble of delusion among
Republicans and Democrats in Washington, D.C., with regard to their
parties’ respective nominating processes…'” Then he goes on: “‘There is
no magic date upon which the air will come out of the Donald Trump
balloon. THE NOTION THAT DONALD TRUMP CANNOT BE THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE IS
COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY WRONG.'” (Capital letters added by me.) (“Party
Rules to Streamline Race May Backfire for G.O.P.,” by Adam Nagourney and
Jonathan Martin, New York Times, Sept. 19, 2015, www.nytimes.com).

Steve Schmidt also “said Mr. Trump could also be helped by the fact that
candidates like Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, with thinner financial
resources and therefore likelier to run out of money, are, like Mr. Trump,
political outsiders. So their supporters would be more inclined to fall in
behind Mr. Trump than, say, Mr. Bush or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida.”
(Ibid.)

Mr. Trump’s tragic flaw, however, seems to be that, on the personal level,
he consistently does not treat people with dignity and respect. He
belittles people. For example, his remarks about Carly Fiorina: “’Look at
that face!’ he said at a conference table with his staff as Mrs. Fiorina
took a question about him on television. ‘Would anyone vote for that? Can
you imagine that, the face of our next president?!’” (“Donald Trump’s
Uncomplimentary Comments About Carly Fiorina,” by Alan Rappeport, New York
Times, Sept. 10, 2015, www.nytimes.com).

President Obama, on the other hand, is very respectful towards others.
It’s a strength of his leadership style. We need leaders who will set an
example for young people on how to treat others with courtesy. We don’t
need bullies who, perhaps because they have more coin than others, think
they can say anything they want.

If you would like to support a candidate in Congressional District 6 who
believes in treating people with dignity and respect, then please consider
donating to my campaign. Check out my website at
williamsonforuscongress.com, and click on “Make a Donation.” A
contribution of $20 can help a lot. It can pay for the cost of keeping my
website up for one month.

Desmond Tutu, a South African leader who played a key role in ending
apartheid, once said:
“Do your little bit of good where you are; its those little bits of good
put together that overwhelm the world.” (www.brainyquote.com) Let’s
overwhelm the Republicans and David Schweikert in 2016. It’s up to you, in
large part, to make this happen. Support a candidate who stands for the
Democratic principles that you yourself hold dear.

Thanks for your attention.

THE FUTURE CAN BE OURS.

Sincerely,
John
