Dear Friend,
DO YOU CARE about the welfare of your dog? Or about the welfare of dogs
generally?
Then you won’t want to miss ED BUFFORD, out next guest speaker at the
SCOTTSDALE DEMOCRATIC LUNCHEON CLUB, this coming Saturday, TOMORROW,
December 20th at 2:00 PM at the DENNY’S at Scottsdale and Osborn Roads.
The title of his presentation will be: “Society Accepts The Killing of a
Man’s Best Friend Every Eight Seconds in USA.” There will be a question
and answer period following Mr. Bufford’s talk.
ED BUFFORD, as many of you know, was, from 2006-2012, the president of the
Classroom Teachers Association of the Phoenix Union High School District.
Prior to that, he taught Marketing in the Phoenix Union District for many
years.
Although retired, ED BUFFORD obviously continues to make a difference
within our community, particularly in the area of the humane treatment of
our canine companions.
In this season of goodwill towards men and women, I doggedly hope that you
will take the time to come hear ED BUFFORD give his talk on a subject
related to human goodwill towards humankind’s best friend.
Please note: DENNY’S requires that each person attending purchase a meal
or significant dessert.
When, in the Greek poet Homer’s epic, THE ODYSSEY, Odysseus, in disguise,
returns to the island of Ithaca after his 20-year absence, only his aged
dog, Argos, recognizes him. Argos, when he sees his master, gets up
shakily from the ground and walks wagging his tail towards him. Upon
reaching Odysseus, Argos, loyal to the end, collapses and dies.
Are we, as a society, being loyal to our dogs? I hope to see you this
coming Saturday, TOMORROW, December 20th, for ED BUFFORD’S talk “Society
Accepts The Killing of a Man’s Best Friend Every Eight Seconds in USA.”
RSVP by calling the above number or sending me an e-mail.
And bring a friend!!
Sincerely,
John
